Heavy rainfall to continue in Kolkata and parts of south Bengal till Friday

Kolkata and the southern parts of Bengal will have heavy rainfall along with lightning and thundershowers in the next 48 hours.

There is a prevailing monsoon trough over the south Bengal region. There has been rainfall in various parts of Kolkata since Wednesday evening, which has continued into Thursday morning. Office goers had a tough time due to traffic congestion and waterlogging.

The Alipore weather office authorities said that rainfall may continue till Friday. Kolkata, Howrah, Hoogly, Midnapore, North and South 24 Parganas and Jhargram are expected to get heavy rainfall in the next two days. Parts of north Bengal including Darjeeling, Alipurduar and some other districts will also have heavy downpour in the next two days. The weather conditions are expected to improve after Saturday, said a senior official.
