Subhendu Adhikary likely to resign as minister from Mamata Banerjee cabinet today

Subhendu Adhikary, Trinamool Congress’ senior minister is likely to resign from the Mamata Banerjee cabinet today, sources said. He is the minister of transport, irrigation and waterways, water resources investigation and development. Adhikary is expected to send his resignation letter to chief minister Mamata Banerjee today, the sources said.

Adhikary is also chairperson of the Hooghly River Bridge Commissioners (HRBC) and heads the Haldia Development Authority (HDA). On Thursday, he had resigned from the position of HRBC chairperson, where another senior Trinamool Congress leader, Kalyan Banerjee, has been appointed by the West Bengal government. He is also expected to step down as HDA head.

With sources confirming that the resignation is now just a matter of time, there are now speculations on his next course of action, and whether Subhendu Adhikary joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is now inevitable.
