Pranab Mukherjee \u2013 who was President of India between 2012 and 2017 \u2013 took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to say that he had tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n
He asked those who had come in contact with him for the past one week to isolate themselves and get themselves tested. Mukherjee, whose Twitter handle is @CitiznMukherjee, wrote, \u201cOn a visit to the hospital for a separate procedure, I have tested positive for COVID today. I request the people who came in contact with me in the last week, to please self isolate and get tested for COVID-19\u201d. Many wished the 84-year-old senior leader a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n
Several senior political leaders across the country, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Madhya Pradesh chief minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Karnataka chief minister BS Yediyurappa have tested positive for COVID-19.<\/p>\n
There has been over 22 lakh positive cases of COVID-19 across the country so far and 44,000 people have died since the outbreak of the pandemic.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
