Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP), the students\u2019 wing of the Trinamool Congress, will hold a protest meet in Kolkata on Friday opposing the Central government\u2019s move to conduct NEET and JEE examinations amidst the pandemic and flood situation.<\/p>\n
The country is reeling under the impact of COVID-19 and various parts of the country have been affected by floods, including parts of West Bengal, party authorities said and added that under this backdrop the party is opposing holding the examinations.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, at a meeting called by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi and Trinamool chief Mamata Banerjee, chief ministers of Opposition political parties decided to put up a fight against the Centre\u2019s various policies, and decided on a possible Supreme Court move on the demand for postponement of JEE and NEET examinations. The Centre has scheduled the examinations in the first two weeks of September, and there is demand from various sections on postponing them in the current pandemic and flood situations. The Supreme Court has dismissed petitions saying \u201clife cannot be stopped\u201d.<\/p>\n
On Friday, the TMCP\u2019s foundation day, student leaders of the party will hold a meeting on Kolkata\u2019s Mayo Road. Later, at 2 pm, party chief Mamata Banerjee, will speak to the student and young leaders and followers of the party, like she does every year.
