Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s West Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh on Sunday said that Trinamool Congress workers will be stripped and beaten with shoes. Ghosh was in Sodepur of North 24 Parganas in one of his \u201cmeeting over tea\u201d gatherings. Ghosh also warned police officers for \u201cworking for the ruling party\u201d and said that within a year he would ensure they are unable to be with their families.<\/p>\n
Dilip Ghosh was referring to a year from now, when he said that the BJP would be in power in West Bengal and not let go of the Trinamool Congress workers or the police. “We won’t forget about those who have threatened and intimidated people. We are noting down everything in a notebook,” he said.\u00a0Ghosh has made similar controversial statements earlier.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will strip [Trinamool Congress] workers on the road and beat them with shoes,\u201d he said. He raised a slogan \u201cUnishey half, ekushe saaf<\/em>\u201d \u2013 meaning half of the Trinamool Congress had been conquered in 2019 Lok Sabha polls, and the remaining power would be wrested in 2021, when the Assembly polls are scheduled in Bengal. Ghosh\u2019s comments are heard to be cheered at with chants of \u201cJai Shree Ram\u201d at the gathering.<\/p>\n \u201cSome police personnel are working at the behest of the ruling party. Within a year, we will ensure that they are unable to be with their families,\u201d Ghosh said, adding that these officers were spending money to educate their children outside West Bengal. \u201cTheir children won\u2019t be able to complete their education.
