{"id":10326,"date":"2020-09-09T11:52:48","date_gmt":"2020-09-09T06:22:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.22.110.190\/english\/?p=10326"},"modified":"2021-01-05T03:07:25","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T21:37:25","slug":"political-chain-on-police-says-bengal-governor-twitter-users-attack-him-showing-dilip-ghoshs-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/political-chain-on-police-says-bengal-governor-twitter-users-attack-him-showing-dilip-ghoshs-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Political chain on police, says Bengal Governor, Twitter users attack him showing Dilip Ghosh\u2019s video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 8 afternoon, when the state celebrated Police Day, West Bengal chief minister <a href=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/mamata-banerjee-reacts-against-dilip-ghoshs-comments-attacking-police-personnel-creates-panel-for-their-welfare-peace-of-mind\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">Mamata Banerjee praised the police force and reacted sharply<\/span><\/a> to Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s state chief Dilip Ghosh\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/dilip-ghosh-says-trinamool-workers-will-be-stripped-beaten-up-also-warns-police-for-working-for-the-ruling-party\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #993300;\">publicly made controversial statements attacking police personnel<\/span><\/a> and their family members.<\/p>\n<p>A few hours later, Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar took to Twitter from his official account @jdhankhar1 to write his \u201creflections\u201d on Police Day: \u201cWhy fear governance @MamataOfficial without police political support! Why not gift freedom to it to act as per law! Why not unshackle its political chains @MamataOfficial. Why make police front line political workers! Why quid pro quo stance!\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10329\" src=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/IMG_20200909_114446.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"929\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dhankhar\u2019s comment however was met with several Twitter users uploading the controversial statements made by the BJP state chief. Most of these users making such comments appeared to be supporters and\/or followers of the Trinamool Congress. In the digital world, where social media users are sharply divided and highly politicised, that is perhaps not surprising.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Ghosh had said: \u201cSome police personnel are working at the behest of the ruling party. Within a year, we will ensure that they are unable to be in touch with their families,\u201d adding that these officers were spending money to educate their children outside West Bengal. \u201cTheir children won\u2019t be able to complete their education. We will turn them into migratory workers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10330\" src=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/IMG_20200909_114149.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"720\" height=\"639\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Twitter users also posted videos of another BJP leader from Bengal, Raju Bandopadhyay, who had said that \u201cwhen we (the BJP) come to power, we will make the police lick our shoes. We will keep transferring them from one place to another even before they can start working in a place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One Twitter user, Sudip Sarkar @SudipCares mentioned @BJP4Bengal leaders threaten police but never get pulled up by Sir @jdhankhar1\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-10331\" src=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/09\/IMG_20200909_114116.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"688\" height=\"902\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Another Twitter user Vinay Kumar Mishra @VINAYKMISHRA wrote: \u201cWhy not let CBI and ED be free from New Delhi\u2019s shackles\u2026\u201d Mishra is described in his Twitter account as a General Secretary of the West Bengal Trinamool Congress.
