The complete lockdown in West Bengal scheduled on Saturday, September 12,\u00a0has been lifted by the state government due to the NEET examinations on the following day, Sunday, September 13.<\/p>\n

Chief minister Mamata Banerjee announced this on her Twitter account. However, there will be complete lockdown in the state on Friday, September 11, as scheduled earlier.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoWB had initially announced a statewide lockdown on Sep 11th & 12th. Considering the NEET 2020 examination scheduled on 13th, we have received numerous requests from the student community on lifting lockdown norms on 12th, helping ease their travel to examination centres. Keeping their interest in mind, while keeping the statewide lockdown as it is on Sep 11th, it has been decided to cancel the lockdown on 12th, so that the students can attend the examination on 13th without any apprehensions or concerns. I wish them all the very best,\u201d Banerjee wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

The state government had announced a bi-weekly complete lockdown across the state observed since August, to contain the spread of COVID-19. However, now that the situation is more or less under control in the state, there may not be bi-weekly complete lockdown observed in the state any further.
