West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday discussed his \u201cconcerns\u201d about the murder of a BJP leader with chief secretary Alapan Bandopadhyay, who called on him at Raj Bhawan. On Sunday evening, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Manish Shukla was shot dead near a police station in the Barrackpore area.<\/p>\n
\u201cConveyed my concern of the present alarming scenario @MamataOfficial to the new Chief Secretary. Am sure Chief Minister would be indicated all these critical aspects that run down democratic governance and lawlessness. Political violence and targeted killings must stop\u201d, Dhankhar tweeted.<\/p>\n
Earlier, on Monday morning, Dhankhar had alleged that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee did not respond to his message seeking to speak to her \u201curgently\u201d on Sunday evening. He took to Twitter to write: \u201cAlarming nosediving law and order scenario @MamataOfficial Targeted political killings in spite of alert by Constitutional Head. Neither ACS Home nor DGP @WBPolice responded. To CM at 10.47 PM \u201cWould like to speak to speak to you urgently!\u201d Only silence that speaks volumes.\u201d<\/p>\n
He had tweeted on Sunday night saying he had called the state DGP and home secretary to the Raj Bhawan at 10 am Monday.<\/p>\n
Shukla is said to be close to the party MP Arjun Singh. The BJP has blamed ruling party Trinamool Congress for the murder and called a 12-hour bandh in Barrackpore area on Monday. Trinamool Congress has said that an inner party feud has led to the murder. Senior officials meanwhile said that investigation has been started in the incident and the situation is tense in Barrackpore. A huge contingent of police has been deployed in the area.<\/p>\n
The CID has taken over the probe from the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, under whose jurisdiction the murder took place.<\/p>\n
