Let’s take a look at some places in the country that use bio-friendly sources of energy. Here’s hoping more follow suit.

Cochin International Airport
In 2015, it became the world’s first airport to completely operate on solar energy. Presently, the airport solar power plant can generate 50,000 to 60,000 units of electricity.

Guwahati Railway Station
Guwahati achieved the feat of becoming the country’s first railway station to operate fully on solar energy. The solar panels laid on the rooftop have a capacity of generating 700 kilowatt of power.

Diu
Not so long ago, Diu would import all its electricity from Gujarat. Now, Diu runs on 100% solar energy during the day which made it India’s first solar-powered island in April 2018. It also plans to generate electricity by wind energy by 2018-19 to become fully sufficient on generating electricity throughout the day. The state government also allocated a subsidy of Rs 10,000 to 50,000 to every resident for installing solar plants.

[9
{"0":"post-1065","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-nation
["GET
