The minority cell of the Trinamool Congress has joined hands with the All India Minority Organisation (AIMO) \u2013 a move that is being seen to fight Asaduddin Owaisi\u2019s AIMIM in the coming Assembly elections in West Bengal. The AIMO is an umbrella organisation that works for the cause of the minorities.<\/p>\n
AIMIM attracting Muslim votes in Bihar has negatively impacted the grand alliance, the Mahagathbandhan<\/em> (the pre-poll alliance of the RJD, Congress and the Left parties). AIMIM has won five Assembly seats in Bihar, including Baisi, Kochadhaman and Bahadurgunj. After Bihar, Owaisi\u2019s next target is expected to be West Bengal, and the AIMIM may field candidates in Bengal in areas with high Muslim population. Already the AIMIM is somewhat active in these belts.<\/p>\n According to Nasir Ahmed, the working president of Trinamool Congress\u2019 minority cell, there will be campaigns across Bengal keeping in mind the interest of the minorities. Ahmed is also the all-India president of the AIMO.
