A four-member team led by Bengali folk singer Debalina Bhowmick will perform in folk-festival Salf\u00f6ldi Dalf\u00f6ld in Hungary on\u00a0July 7, 2018.<\/p>\n
Bhowmick will perform folk songs including Jhumur<\/em>, Bhawaiya<\/em>\u00a0while Shantiniketan’s Susanta\u00a0Das\u00a0Baul will perform on Baul<\/em> songs. The other two members \u2013 Murshidabad’s Khokon\u00a0Das\u00a0and Bankura’s Mohan Tati \u2013 will play Dhol<\/em> and flute respectively.<\/p>\n Bhowmick said the essence of folk songs is similar in every country and they often discover similarities in music, words, tune, melody, use of instruments in folk songs of other countries.<\/p>\n Earlier they have collaborated with Hungarian artists \u2013 when folk groups Sondorgo, Romengo and Muzsikas visited Kolkata in 2012, 2016 and 2017 respectively.\u00a0Being the music co-ordinator of\u00a0banglanatak.com<\/a>, that promotes Bengal\u2019s folk art and music, Bhowmick experiences the growing love of folk songs among the next generation. She said,\u00a0\u201cMany artists are getting recognition at the global stage, and this is encouraging the next generation to take up folk songs seriously.\u201d\u00a0Currently, the organisation trains more than 6,000 artists.<\/p>\n Bhowmick and her team will also perform in Germany’s Karlsruhe India Summer Days Festival on\u00a0July 14 & 15<\/span>\u00a0before touring Sweden’s Urkult with different team members including Sadhu and Kangal, sons of famous artist late Tarak Khapa, Dipannita Acharya and Khokon\u00a0Das.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
