Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday reiterated her observations on defectors from her party who have joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). At a workers\u2019 meeting in Alipurduar Parade Ground, Banerjee accused the BJP of buying \u201cgreedy\u201d leaders. She said that those joining the BJP were non performers and wouldn\u2019t have got tickets from her party anyway, and that\u2019s what had led them to leave the Trinamool Congress to join the BJP.<\/p>\n
She pointed out that the tickets are not sold for money but honest work is the only thing that is valued in her party. \u201cTrinamool Congress is not for sale,\u201d she said, adding that those who were leaving her party to join the BJP were doing so against money, and also to project the huge amount of wealth that they had amassed. Banerjee added that not these non-performers, but the booth-level workers who were the real strength and leaders of the party.<\/p>\n
The CM said she was overwhelmed with the number of people that had gathered at the event and felt confident of sweeping the elections in north Bengal this time.
