West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Friday said that there is need for change in West Bengal.<\/p>\n
Speaking to journalists in Bolpur after the convocation programme of Vishwa Bharati, Dhankhar said that \u201cthere should be a change 75 years after Independence\u201d. According to Dhankhar, there has been major, core changes in the country, adding that West Bengal was at the top when India became independent, and every decade it steadily fell from various positions. He said \u201cWest Bengal should be at the top.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dhankhar said that there is such an atmosphere of fear that people are even afraid to say they are in living in fear. He added that Vishwa Bharati will be a reason for change and be part of the change.<\/p>\n
According to some \u2013 particularly those from the ruling Trinamool Congress \u2013 the Governor in making such a statement has flouted his position of neutrality. They said that in using the word \u201cparivartan\u201d or change \u2013 something that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has been using every day from its political rallies in poll-bound Bengal, Dhankhar appeared to have spoken in favour of the saffron party. Stating that Vishwa Bharati University would be the same as Nalanda and Takshashila was, Dhankhar added that VBU will set new records and become part of the change.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
