Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday started the West Bengal Assembly elections campaign for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This is his first rally in the state since the election dates were announced for Bengal \u2013 that starts on March 27 and continues till April 29. Election results are out on May 2.<\/p>\n
Modi said that the Mamata Banerjee government broke the trust of the people in the state. \u201cBengal wanted Poriborton<\/em>, (change) but she broke the trust,\u201d he said, adding that there is now need for \u201cAshol Poriborton<\/em>\u201d. PM Modi had used the phrase \u201cAshol Poriborton<\/em>\u201d (real change) earlier too. He said that a BJP government in Bengal would mean more jobs and industries.<\/p>\n Modi blamed the \u201csyndicate\u201d culture, \u201ccut-money\u201d culture and tolabaji<\/em> (extortion) in Bengal for keeping the state in the doldrums.<\/p>\n He said that in the year 2047, which marks 100 years of India\u2019s Independence, Bengal will lead in all sectors. \u201cThe next 25 years are very important for development in Bengal…In 2047, when India will celebrate 100 years of independence, Bengal will lead the country once again,” he said.<\/p>\n He said that the democratic system had been destroyed in the state and the BJP will strengthen it.
