Saurav Ganguly, president of the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday said in an interview that he wants to remain associated with only cricket for now, and that he was focusing on his health and healing. He was speaking in an interview on the newly launched Republic TV Bangla.<\/p>\n
In the interview, Saurav said that he wants to remain focused on his health, and added that there was no pressure on him. There have been a lot of speculation on his joining politics, and that he may be pitched as the chief minister candidate of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for West Bengal in the coming Assembly polls. There were talks that he was \u201cunder pressure\u201d. Ganguly was diagnosed with blocked coronary arteries and was in hospital twice in January this year.<\/p>\n
\u201cAmar cricket er shathei thakar ichhe achhe<\/em> (I want to continue to be associated with cricket only,\u201d Ganguly said in the interview. However, he said he did not rule out anything for future. Asked whether he is interested in entering “any other field”, Saurav Ganguly said: \u201cI don\u2019t know. Let me see where life takes me\u2026 You never know where life takes you, you cannot plan everything.\u201d<\/p>\n About doing \u201csomething new\u201d or \u201csomething else\u201d, he said that it also depends on \u201chow does it influences my life and the lives of people around me.\u201d Ganguly said that he doesn\u2019t “think about politics”. \u201cI am happy with what I do. I respect people and I want to be respected,\u201d he said. \u201cPolitics is not bad\u2026there are great politicians who run the country, and politics influences us all. But at the end of the day, if one joins politics they must be happy doing it\u2026\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cWhatever you do, you should be happy about it. It should feel good to wake up, take your breakfast and go to work, whether it is the cricket field, the Assembly, or Parliament\u2026 and for me it is the cricket field,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The 48-year-old Ganguly said that over the years, his \u201ckiller instinct\u201d had “mellowed down”. \u201cNow, I want to get back to being healthy and lead a good healthy life. My life is not just my own life anymore, it\u2019s more of my daughter Sana, my wife, my mother and others in the family and friends\u2026 when kids grow up, you start focusing more on them,\u201d Ganguly said.
