A team of Trinamool Congress MPs called on the Election Commission of India\u2019s full bench in New Delhi on Friday and alleged that Mamata Banerjee\u2019s injury in Nandigram on March 10 was a conspiracy. The Trinamool team had MPs Sougata Roy, Pratima Mondol, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Satabdi Roy, Santanu Sen and Derek O\u2019Brien.<\/p>\n
Speaking to the media after the one and a half hour long meeting, Sougata Roy said that the Trinamool team had presented before the EC full bench \u201cinstances\u201d of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) indicating before that day that \u201csomething untoward\u201d may happen in Nandigram. The Trinamool team said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mentioned at a recent public meeting that Mamata Banerjee\u2019s scooter may topple in Nandigram. Bengal\u2019s ruling party also said that BJP Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh had mentioned that something may happen to Banerjee in Nandigram. They also referred to BJP MP Soumitra Khan\u2019s comments that something may happen after 5 pm on Wednesday. The Trinamool team submitted before the EC records of these statements.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe presented all these instances before the EC full bench and said that what happened to Mamata Banerjee on March 10 in Nandigram was not an accident, but a conspiracy against her. We have demanded a high-level inquiry into the incident,\u201d Sougata Roy said after the meeting. He added that the party had also told the EC bench that there is a link between transferring the state\u2019s DGP and ADG law and order and the incident in Nandigram happening right after that.<\/p>\n
Roy also said that unlike what is being reported by a section of the media, Banerjee\u2019s vehicle had not hit any post in the middle of the road. \u201cSome eyewitnesses were quoted saying the car had hit the pole, but we have shown the vehicle to the media and it was not damaged, and moreover, but we have come to know that these so-called eyewitnesses have links with BJP leader Suvendu Adhikary,\u201d Roy said, adding that while the EC had sought a report on the incident already, the panel would inquire further into the allegations of the Trinamool Congress.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
