Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that he wants to fast-track development in Bengal, and urged the people to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was speaking at a public rally in Kharagpur of West Midnapore.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have given the Congress, the Left and the Trinamool Congress 70 years to run this state. The Congress and CPI-M has not done anything for the state, and Trinamool Congress has shattered your dreams. Give us five years and we will rid the state of the misery of the past 70 years. Give us an opportunity to serve Bengal,” he said.<\/p>\n
Modi added that the youth of Bengal have lost precious time of their lives. “They don\u2019t have to migrate to get work. We will bring \u2018Ashol Paribartan<\/em>\u2019 (real development),\u201d he said. Modi also raised the slogan \u201cBangal mein iss<\/em> bar BJP sarkar\u201d (BJP government for Bengal this time).<\/p>\n PM Modi attacked the Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee saying that in Didi\u2019s school, the syllabus includes tolabaji<\/em> (extortion), cut-money and syndicate raj. \u201cWe all know how the sand mafia has eroded the riverbed in the area,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n This is Modi\u2019s second visit to West Bengal in three days. He was in Purulia on Thursday. The PM is scheduled to tour Bengal visiting three districts over the next five days. Bengal goes to an eight-phase election beginning March 27.
