Newly-inducted member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), actor Mithun Chakraborty, has enlisted his name in West Bengal as a voter. According to BJP sources, the actor with the name \u201cMithun Basanta Chakraborty\u201d became a voter from Raja Manindra Street, near Belgachhia, which is the residence of his cousin sister.<\/p>\n

Talking to media, Sharmishta Sarkar, the actor-turned politician\u2019s cousin, said that though she is not yet aware about Mithun\u2019s candidature, the actor had indeed registered her house address to become a voter of West Bengal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhenever Mithun comes to Kolkata, on non-official trips, he stays at my place. He became a voter of Bengal and registered my house address. Previously, he was a voter of Maharashtra,\u201d she said. Mithun Chakraborty joined the saffron camp on March 7 at a public rally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Kolkata\u2019s Brigade Parade Ground.<\/p>\n

The actor had then said though he will campaign for the BJP candidates, but has not said that he would contest as a candidate. Meanwhile, West Bengal BJP observer Kailash Vijaywargiya said that if the party decides Mithun Chakraborty will contest the polls, leading to further speculations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
