{"id":1461,"date":"2018-06-22T18:04:22","date_gmt":"2018-06-22T12:34:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.22.110.190\/english\/?p=1461"},"modified":"2021-01-05T03:14:08","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T21:44:08","slug":"bank-with-amit-shah-as-director-got-most-banned-notes-after-demonetisation-rti-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/bank-with-amit-shah-as-director-got-most-banned-notes-after-demonetisation-rti-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Bank with Amit Shah as director got most banned notes after demonetisation: RTI report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ahmedabad District Cooperative Bank \u2013 whose website shows Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah as its director \u2013 collected the highest deposits in scrapped\u00a0Rs. 500 and Rs 1,000 notes following the demonetisation announcement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8, 2016, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.moneylife.in\/article\/bank-with-amit-shah-as-a-director-collected-highest-amount-of-banned-notes-among-dccbs-rti-reply\/54419.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">reported<\/span> <\/a>by IANS.<\/p>\n<p>In response to a Right to Information (RTI) plea filed by Mumbai-based Manoranjan S Roy, reports of collecting Rs. 745.59 crore of demonetised notes had come to light.<\/p>\n<p>Such a huge amount was deposited in just six days till\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_494704169\">November 14<\/span>\u00a0as the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) later decided to ban district cooperative banks from collecting banned notes fearing corruption, the report said.<\/p>\n<p>Shah has been the director of the bank for quite some time.
