{"id":1469,"date":"2018-06-23T13:25:23","date_gmt":"2018-06-23T07:55:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.22.110.190\/english\/?p=1469"},"modified":"2021-01-05T03:14:08","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T21:44:08","slug":"aadhar-data-cant-be-used-for-crime-investigation-clarifies-uidai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/aadhar-data-cant-be-used-for-crime-investigation-clarifies-uidai\/","title":{"rendered":"Aadhar data can\u2019t be used for crime investigation, clarifies UIDAI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Amidst talks over using Aadhar data for solving criminal cases, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI)\u00a0<span data-term=\"goog_220309847\">on Friday<\/span>\u00a0clarified that no investigating agency is allowed to use the biometric data for crime investigation, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aninews.in\/news\/national\/general-news\/biometrics-not-used-in-crime-probes-uidai201806221913420001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">reported<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In an official statement, the statutory authority of issuing Aadhar, took Section 29 of the Aadhaar Act, 2016 to mention that no one can use the Aadhar data except for generating Aadhar\u00a0and authenticating the identity of the holder. The act can only be altered under Section 33 of the Aadhaar Act in cases it involves national security but it has to be approved by \u201can oversight committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary\u201d. (URL)<\/p>\n<p>UIDAI further said that the authority did not share any Aadhar data with any crime investigating agency.
