{"id":14801,"date":"2021-04-12T14:28:46","date_gmt":"2021-04-12T08:58:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.22.110.190\/english\/?p=14801"},"modified":"2021-04-12T20:19:34","modified_gmt":"2021-04-12T14:49:34","slug":"trinamool-congress-seeks-campaign-ban-on-dilip-ghosh-for-his-comment-on-sitalkuchi-killings","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/trinamool-congress-seeks-campaign-ban-on-dilip-ghosh-for-his-comment-on-sitalkuchi-killings\/","title":{"rendered":"Trinamool Congress seeks campaign ban on Dilip Ghosh for his comment on Sitalkuchi killings"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Trinamool Congress has moved the Election Commission seeking campaign ban on West Bengal Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Dilip Ghosh over his remarks on the killing of four people in Cooch Behar\u2019s Sitalkuchi.<\/p>\n<p>The Trinamool, in its letter to the EC has said that Ghosh \u201cjustified such murder and threatened Bengal and its people of more such murders in the following words: \u2018<em>ar jodi barabari kore <\/em>Sitalkuchi <em>dekheche ki hoche, jaegae jaegae<\/em> Sitalkuchi <em>hobe<\/em>\u2019 (people have seen what happened at Sitalkuchi, if anyone steps its boundary, the incident of Sitalkuchi will be repeated again and again)\u201d. The letter said that \u201cInstead of condemning the acts of violence of CRPF in the brutal cold-blooded killing of the four innocent people, Dilip Ghosh was&#8230; in fact encouraging similar spell of violence in the ongoing elections in West Bengal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bengal\u2019s ruling party also sought legal action against Ghosh for his controversial comments. \u201cIn the circumstances, we call upon you, to forthwith: First, initiate appropriate strict legal action, including criminal proceedings, against Dilip Ghosh for his inflammatory and inciting statement and openly threatening the electorate. Secondly, restrain Dilip Ghosh for campaigning for remaining phases,\u201d the letter said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/cross-the-line-and-sitalkuchi-killings-will-be-repeated-across-bengal-bengal-bjp-chief-dilip-ghosh\/\" data-schema-attribute=\"\"><strong>Ghosh on Sunday, said at a public rally<\/strong><\/a> in support of BJP candidate Parno Mitra, that \u201cthis is just the start\u201d. \u201cBeware! Don\u2019t cross the line. Some <em>dushtu chhele<\/em> (naughty boys) were shot at in Sitalkuchi. These naughty boys won\u2019t stay in Bengal anymore. On April 17 (the next phase of election), the Central forces will continue to be on duty. If anyone crosses the line, then there will be a repeat of Sitalkuchi,\u201d Ghosh said.<\/p>\n<p>The BJP\u2019s Bengal chief added that the \u201cCentral forces have not come to Bengal to casually visit the state with their firearms. They are actually using these. And those who have doubted it have felt the heat of these firearms.
