The decision was announced on the day the state reported its biggest rise of over 34,000 new cases in a single day.<\/p>\n<p>Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said that there will be a \u201cCOVID curfew\u201d in the state from 9 PM tomorrow for the next 14 days. Essential services will be allowed between 6 AM and 10 AM. No public transport will run during the lockdown, and travel within the state and outside &#8212; to and from other states &#8212; won\u2019t be allowed except for emergencies. However, construction, manufacturing and agriculture sectors will function.<\/p>\n<p>The state yesterday reported 34,804 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of cases to 13.39 lakh. There were 143 deaths reported.
