West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday held meetings with the state\u2019s top administrative officials and took stock of the preparedness in view of the impending cyclone Yaas. Speaking to the media, Banerjee said: \u201cDon\u2019t panic. Do not venture outside, not even to see the storm out of curiosity. The storm will be over soon.\u201d<\/p>\n
Over 10 lakh people will be evacuated across the state. Apart from the cyclone making landfall in the coast of Bengal in south, there will be heavy rainfall across the state including in north Bengal.<\/p>\n
Banerjee said that preparations are being taken to evacuate people and measures have been taken to restore the situation to normal and rehabilitate the affected persons.<\/p>\n
Teams of NDRF, civic volunteers, Kolkata and state police teams have been made ready to handle the crisis. Power restoration is an important area, which is being especially focused on. With COVID-19 patients in hospitals, arrangements for constant power supply is also an important area for the state.<\/p>\n
