Abhishek Banerjee, Trinamool Congress\u2019 new national general secretary, on Monday said at a press conference in Kolkata that the party will expand its units to other states \u201cnot to win a few seats\u201d but to win the state. Banerjee \u2013 a Lok Sabha MP of the Trinamool Congress \u2013 who was chosen by the party as the new all India general secretary two days back, said that he will be ready with a concrete plan within a month and announce which states the party will want its units in.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis attempt of ours will be very different from what it has been in the past,\u201d he said, adding that the party \u2013 after its stunning win in West Bengal 2021 Assembly polls \u2013 wants to be a platform of choice for the people wherever they open their units in the coming days. He said that after the Trinamool\u2019s win, the party has received approximately a lakh e-mails from people across the country congratulating Mamata Banerjee for the win.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is not about defeating BJP, but about saving India, and that\u2019s what people have written to Trinamool Congress about,\u201d Abhishek Banerjee said. He however, did not mention any state, but added that it could be any part of the country \u2013 north or south or Northeast India.
