{"id":15457,"date":"2021-06-15T17:34:22","date_gmt":"2021-06-15T12:04:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/?p=15457"},"modified":"2021-06-15T17:34:22","modified_gmt":"2021-06-15T12:04:22","slug":"jagdeep-dhankhar-to-mamata-banerjee-ongoing-post-poll-violence-in-bengal-worst-since-independence-questions-her-silence-inaction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/jagdeep-dhankhar-to-mamata-banerjee-ongoing-post-poll-violence-in-bengal-worst-since-independence-questions-her-silence-inaction\/","title":{"rendered":"Jagdeep Dhankhar to Mamata Banerjee: ongoing post-poll violence in Bengal \u201cworst since Independence\u201d; questions her \u201csilence\u201d &#038; \u201cinaction\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday wrote to the state\u2019s chief minister Mamata Banerjee on her \u201ccontinued silence\u201d and \u201cinaction\u201d over what he called were \u201cpost poll retributive bloodshed, violation of human rights, outrageous assault over dignity of women\u2026on political opponents\u201d which he also said was the \u201cworst since Independence\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Dhankhar wrote to the CM in a letter \u2013 which he posted in his official Twitter account \u2013 saying that despite drawing her attention to the post-poll violence, the CM has not deemed it \u201cnecessary to even deliberate this grave human tragedy in any of the Cabinet meetings\u201d so far. He also wrote that her \u201csilence\u201d led to the conclusion that this was \u201cstate-driven\u201d. The Governor added that the role of the state was partisan and said that the \u201csuffering people are in fear of police and administration in turn at the beck and call of ruling party harmads who like loose canons are with no fear of law.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also added that the CM should \u201creflect\u201d and \u201cponder\u201d over the premise of ongoing violence \u2013 that is, \u2018punishing\u2019 and \u2018disciplining\u2019 those who \u2018dared\u2019 to vote out of volition and for the opposition\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>He wrote that many people had mentioned to him about this violence during his visits to some camps in Cooch Behar and Nandigram among others.
