The Tamluk police station of Bengal\u2019s East Midnapore district on Tuesday filed a suo motu case against West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari a day after he said that he has in his possession call records of telephonic conversations of the district police superintendent Amarnath K. A case was filed against him for flouting The Official Secrets\u2019 Act 1923, as telephonic surveillance can be done by administration authorities after due clearance obtained legally.<\/p>\n
A case was also filed against Adhikari for holding a meeting in East Midnapore\u2019s Tamluk \u2013 where he said these yesterday \u2013 without adhering to COVID-19 protocols, as gatherings with over 50 persons is banned now.<\/p>\n
Asking the IPS officer Amarnath K to tread with caution, Adhikari had said yesterday: \u201cA young boy has come as SP here. I know what he is up to, I am a veteran player. I want to tell him that you are an officer of the Central cadre, so don\u2019t do anything for which you may get posted in Anantnag or Baramulla in Kashmir.\u201d Suvendu Adhikari also said that if \u201csome people\u201d thought they have the state government in their control, he himself has control over the Central government.<\/p>\n
