West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee will call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Banerjee left for Delhi earlier today. She is travelling to Delhi for the first time since she won a landslide victory in the Assembly elections for a third consecutive term. She is looking to unite the Opposition parties against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.<\/p>\n

During her visit for the next few days, Banerjee is expected to meet Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, and other Opposition leaders. Before leaving Kolkata, at a press conference, Banerjee announced the formation of a panel comprising retired judges Justice Jyotirmoy Bhattacharya and Justice MB Lokur which will probe the phone hacking scandal.<\/p>\n

Banerjee\u2019s nephew, Trinamool Congress\u2019 national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, was in the list of potential surveillance targets. Her poll strategist Prashant Kishor has also been in the alleged list.<\/p>\n

Under the backdrop of the phone hacking scandal in which the Opposition parties are increasing pressure on the Narendra Modi government on various issues, Banerjee\u2019s Delhi visit is expected to have several interesting political developments in the coming few days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
