She met party chief Mamata Banerjee and the party\u2019s all-India general secretary Abhishek Banerjee. Dev is likely to be the face of the Trinamool Congress in Assam.<\/p>\n
Trinamool Congress tweeted photographs of her joining in the party\u2019s official Twitter handle and wrote: \u201cWe warmly welcome the former President of All India Mahila Congress @sushmitadevinc to our Trinamool family! Inspired by @MamataOfficial, she joins us today in the presence of our National General Secretary @abhishekaitc & Parliamentary Party Leader, Rajya Sabha, @derekobrienmp<\/p>\n
On Sunday, she wrote to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, though she did not specify her reasons for quitting. She wrote in her letter that she cherishes her \u201cthree-decade long association with the Indian National Congress\u201d. She also wrote in her resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi: \u201cI hope I have your good wishes as I begin a new chapter in my life of public service.\u201d<\/p>\n
