East Bengal will play in the Indian Super League (ISL), Shree Cement authorities assured in the presence of West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna, the state administrative headquarters, on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Banerjee intervened in the matter and the impasse was resolved a day after she expressed her displeasure with Shree Cement\u2019s decision to end the joint venture with East Bengal club at the last moment. The Bengal CM on Tuesday had said that the Shree Cement authorities had sent her a letter to inform that they won\u2019t be able to continue with East Bengal. \u201cThis is a very bad attitude,\u201d said Banerjee yesterday. She had played a key role in the tie-up.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want clubs like Mohun Bagan, East Bengal to play the ISL. Today, I am very happy,\u201d she said, after officials of East Bengal and Shree Cement shook hands to indicate that the crisis was over for now.<\/p>\n
