He was 65.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince it is already out there; Dad passed away late last night. He had been suffering for a while,\u201d tweeted his son Kushan Mitra. Chandan Mitra was a two-time Rajya Sabha MP. He had recently resigned as printer and publisher of <em>The Pioneer<\/em> newspaper.<\/p>\n<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the death of the former BJP leader. \u201cShri Chandan Mitra Ji will be remembered for his intellect and insights. He distinguished himself in the world of media as well as politics. Anguished by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,\u201d the PM tweeted.
