Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday reached the Delhi office of the Central law enforcement agency, the Enforcement Directorate. He has been summoned in an alleged money laundering case involving coal smuggling.<\/p>\n
The Diamond Harbour MP is Trinamool chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee\u2019s nephew. Abhishek Banerjee had reached Delhi yesterday, and reached the ED office ahead of the scheduled time of appearance, at 11 AM today.<\/p>\n
His wife Rujira was also asked to appear before the ED, on September 1. However, she had written to the ED authorities saying that as mother of two infants it was impossible for her to travel to another city alone during the pandemic as it would put all of them to health risks. She had asked the ED authorities to visit her home in connection with the probe.<\/p>\n
Abhishek Banerjee and his wife\u2019s lawyer, Sanjay Basu, was also asked to appear before the agency, on September 3. Meanwhile, two senior IPS officers from West Bengal \u2013 Gyanwant Singh and Shyam Singh \u2013 have been summoned by the ED in the same case on September 8 and 9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
