Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that 41 Ordnance factories will be converted into seven government-run corporate bodies, in a move to improve India\u2019s defence sector. PM Modi said that \u201cthe goal is to make India the world\u2019s biggest military power on its own\u201d.<\/p>\n

He said that a single-window system has been put in place instead of stagnant policies to develop India as a major producer of defence equipment. \u201cUnder the self-reliant India campaign, the country\u2019s goal is to make India the world\u2019s biggest military power on its own and development of modern military industry in India,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and representatives from defence industry associations were present.<\/p>\n

The seven new defence companies that have been incorporated are Munitions India Limited (MIL), Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited (AVANI), Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Limited (AWE India), Troop Comforts Limited (TCL), Yantra India Limited (YIL), India Optel Limited (IOL) and Gliders India Limited (GIL), it was reported.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
