Trinamool Congress national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee on Monday said that within a few months, his party will be in power in Goa. He was speaking at an election campaign rally in Bengal’s Dinhata of Cooch Behar district where byelections are scheduled later this month.<\/p>\n
Abhishek Banerjee said that subsequently, Trinamool will expand its activities also in Tripura, Meghalaya, Uttar Pradesh and so on. Trinamool is going big with its campaign in Goa which Mamata Banerjee is visiting later this week. The party has already launched its campaign in the state which says: \u201cA new dawn is coming\u201d. Trinamool leaders such as Sougata Roy, Derek O\u2019Brien, Mohua Moitra \u2013 along with Babul Supriyo \u2013 are in Goa for the campaign. With Assembly elections of 2022 a major focus of the Trinamool Congress in Goa, the party leaders are visiting the state to prepare for Mamata Banerjee\u2019s October 28 visit.<\/p>\n
After winning the Bengal state elections for the third time \u2013 in a landslide victory \u2013 Trinamool Congress is now focusing on expanding its presence in other states too. Trinamool is attacking the BJP government on the vaccine issue \u2013 alleging that a considerable population in Goa have not received the second dose yet. Other issues include drinking water problems, women\u2019s safety, alleged deterioration of law and order and so on.<\/p>\n
Congress had won 17 out of the 40 Assembly seats in Goa in 2017 Assembly polls, while the BJP won 13. But the BJP formed the government after some MLAs switched over, and currently BJP has 27 MLAs and Congress has five MLAs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
