Answering a question in an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ndtv.com\/india-news\/leander-paes-to-ndtv-i-am-open-to-contesting-election-let-mamata-banerjee-decide-that-2595598#pfrom=home-ndtv_topscroll\" data-schema-attribute=\"\">interview with NDTV<\/a>, Paes said: \u201cI am open to contesting election. Let Mamata Banerjee decide that\u201d. But for now, he was keen on learning, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Paes, who recently joined Trinamool Congress, added that his relationship with Banerjee \u201cgoes back many years\u201d. His mother is from West Bengal and father is a Goan. He was all-praise for the Bengal CM and said that he was back in the state now, \u201cI\u2019m back now\u2026 I see huge opportunities to do good in Goa. I play for India, only my vehicle has changed\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have got my younger brother and sweet and cute brother in the Trinamool Congress,\u201d Banerjee said at the press conference that followed in Goa after Paes joined her party. Paes had said he had met her when he was 14. \u201cShe was very encouraging and supportive.
