Byelection results in four Assembly constituencies \u2013 Khardah, Santipur, Dinhata and Gosaba \u2013 will be announced tomorrow, November 2. Elections in these seats were held on October 30.<\/p>\n
For Khardah, Trinamool candidate Kajal Sinha had died even before the results were announced. Trinamool had won the seat. Trinamool\u2019s Gosaba candidate Jayanta Naskar had died after the results, and he had sworn in as the MLA. Two other seats \u2013 in Cooch Behar\u2019s Dinhata and Nadia\u2019s Santipur \u2013 both BJP\u2019s winning candidates Nishith Pramanick and Jagannath Sarkar \u2013 had given up their Assembly seats as they wanted to continue being MPs as they had been elected in 2019 Lok Sabha polls.<\/p>\n
For counting, a large contingent of police personnel has been deployed, and round-the-clock guarding of the EVMs has been in place since the elections were completed on October 30.<\/p>\n
