However, the Congress said the government had failed the economy by the \u201cshoddily implemented and overcomplicated GST.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Lauding GST, the Prime Minister said that the new tax regime has brought growth, simplicity and transparency in the economy. He tweeted, \u201cGST has brought growth, simplicity and transparency. It is: Boosting formalisation. Enhancing productivity. Furthering \u2018Ease of Doing Business.\u2019 Benefitting small and medium enterprises. #GSTForNewIndia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Finance Minister Piyush Goyal echoed similar sentiments while congratulating the nation on the completion of one year of GST.<\/p>\n<p>The GST was rolled out on the\u00a0midnight\u00a0of June 30 last year after months of deliberation.<\/p>\n<p>Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala yesterday had termed GST as \u201cGrossly Scary Tax\u201d and added that the promise of a \u201csingle-tax GST\u201d is yet to be realised. \u201cThe GST is one of PM Modi\u2019s U-Turns. The shoddily implemented and overcomplicated GST has failed the economy.
