The student was apparently trying to escape Kyiv and was injured in firing, the minister was quoted saying. He was then reportedly taken back into the city and is in hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe heard reports that a student leaving Kyiv was shot at. He was taken back to Kyiv and taken to hospital,\u201d General (Retd) VK Singh said at Rzeszow airport in Poland, according to reports.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, an Indian student was killed in Kharkiv, the second largest city in Ukraine. The student, 21-year-old Naveen Shekharappa \u2013 from Karnataka \u2013 was standing in a queue outside a grocery store when he was killed.<\/p>\n<p>Singh said that the Centre is trying to ensure maximum number of students can leave Ukraine as quickly as possible. Singh is one of the four ministers sent to Ukraine\u2019s neighbouring countries to evacuate Indians from Ukraine. According to the Minister of External Affairs, nearly 17,000 Indian nationals have left Ukraine\u2019s borders since advisories were issued, and over 6,000 Indians have since been flown back home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An Indian student was reportedly shot at in Ukraine\u2019s capital Kyiv, Union Minister VK Singh was quoted saying in reports.
