She was targeted at in Nandigram and guns were fired at her, Trinamool Congress chief and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said today. Banerjee said this while speaking in the Assembly following Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar\u2019s speech.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was not being allowed to campaign in Nandigram. Even guns were fired aimed at me,\u201d Banerjee said. She said that there were \u201cadjustments\u201d to make her lose the election from the seat. However, she did not elaborate on this further. Banerjee lost to Bharatiya Janata Party\u2019s (BJP) Suvendu Adhikari from the Nandigram seat in the 2021 Assembly elections by 1,956 votes. Adhikari was her former aide in the Trinamool Congress. \u201cThose who have conspired against me should seek forgiveness from the people,\u201d she said. Trinamool Congress has moved court challenging the results of the Nandigram seat.<\/p>\n

BJP MLAs staged protests during her speech in the Assembly as the party\u2019s MLAs Sudip Mukhopadhyay and Mihir Goswami had earlier been suspended from the Assembly session for creating disturbances during the Governor\u2019s budget speech.<\/p>\n

Speaking on Mamata Banerjee\u2019s allegations, Adhikari said outside the Assembly, \u201cShe cannot forget the loss in Nandigram, and is saying such things due to the trauma. She can ask the administration to conduct a probe.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
