The Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) administration on Monday warned students on clashes that disturbed peace and harmony on the campus. On Sunday, at least 16 persons were injured in a clash involving two groups inside the campus. Police on Monday registered an FIR based on a complaint filed by members of the JNUSU, SFI, DSF and AISA against unknown ABVP students. A senior police officer was quoted saying<\/a> that the ABVP members have said that they too will file complaints.<\/p>\n

Police said that security has been tightened at JNU. The JNUSU and ABVP students took out marches inside the campus. They blamed each other for the violence.<\/p>\n

The 16 students were injured allegedly after the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyardhi Parishad (ABVP) students objected to non-vegetarian food being served at one of the JNU hostels, Kaveri. According to news reports, a Jawaharlal Nehru University Students\u2019 Union (JNUSU) student injured in the clash said that ABVP members barged inside the hostel and started attacking students as non-vegetarian food was being cooked inside the hostel mess on Sunday.<\/p>\n

ABVP\u2019s JNU wing president Rohit Kumar was quoted saying that they are not against non-vegetarian food being served in the hostel mess. Some alleged that the attack had been planned by the JNUSU. The ABVP said that the JNUSU students were against a Ram Navami puja and attacked them with stick when the puja was being performed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
