Kunal Ghosh, Trinamool Congress general secretary and spokesperson of the party, took to Twitter on Friday night to say that the cash recovered from the house of an associate of Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) should not be linked with the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe cash recovered by ED has nothing to do with the Trinamool Congress. The names of those coming up in the investigation and their lawyers will have to answer the questions coming up in this connection. Trinamool Congress is keeping an eye on why the party\u2019s name is being involved in this and will respond in due course,\u201d he wrote on Twitter.<\/p>\n

The ED on Friday recovered Rs 20 crore in cash from the house of an associate of West Bengal commerce and industries and Information Technology minister Partha Chatterjee. The ED raided the house of Arpita Mukherjee in Kolkata in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment in School Service Commission (SSC) scam. Chatterjee was earlier the education minister when the scam allegedly took place.<\/p>\n

ED officers reached the house of Chatterjee on Friday morning and continue to question him for over 24 hours. They are still in the house of the minister in Naktala, questioning him. On Friday evening, the probe agency released a statement which mentioned: \u201cThe said amount in suspected to be proceeds of crime of the said SSC scam.\u201d The probe agency took the assistance of bank officials and counted the cash through machines. Notes of Rs 2000 and Rs 500 recovered during the raid could be seen in photographs. Also, about 20 mobile phones were recovered from Arpita Mukherjee\u2019s house. Investigators are looking at the purpose for which these phones were used.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
