After the arrest of West Bengal Commerce and Industries minister Partha Chatterjee on July 23, Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced a major reshuffle in her cabinet. Chatterjee also handled the Information Technology and Parliamentary Affairs departments. Apart from this, departments handled by Subrata Mukherjee and Sadhan Pandey — who died recently — are also to be given to senior leaders of the party.<\/p>\n
Mamata Banerjee today said: “Subrata Mukherjee and Sadhan Pandey died. Partha da (Partha Chatterjee) is in jail. They had important departments like panchayat, commerce and industries and so on. I cannot take the responsibility of so many departments. So a cabinet reshuffle will be done.\u201d She also said that some existing ministers will be taken out of the cabinet and used for \u201cparty work\u201d.<\/p>\n
