{"id":3332,"date":"2018-11-17T12:46:51","date_gmt":"2018-11-17T07:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/?p=3332"},"modified":"2021-01-05T03:12:52","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T21:42:52","slug":"mj-akbar-tarun-tejpal-in-editors-guild-of-india-member-list","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/mj-akbar-tarun-tejpal-in-editors-guild-of-india-member-list\/","title":{"rendered":"MJ Akbar, Tarun Tejpal in Editor\u2019s Guild of India member list"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Former Union minister MJ Akbar and former editor-in-chief of Tehelka magazine Tarun Tejpal \u2013 both accused of sexual misconduct by their female colleagues \u2013 are part of an updated list of members of the Editor\u2019s Guild of India.\u00a0The list also has the name of Gautam Adhikari, who has also been accused of sexual harassment, it was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aninews.in\/news\/national\/general-news\/mj-akbar-tarun-tejpal-included-in-editors-guild-of-india-member-list201811171002410002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #008080;\">reported by the ANI<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>There were objections among several members of the guild that these names should not be part of the list.<\/p>\n<p>MJ Akbar has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least 20 women. The Union minister stepped down from his ministerial post last month and has filed a criminal defamation case against one of the women. Tejpal was accused of rape by a junior colleague in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the Editor\u2019s Guild had asked Akbar to withdraw the defamation case.
