West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday called for the unity of the regional parties in the run-up to the Lok Sabha polls of 2019, as the big blow to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was clear in the Assembly election results.<\/p>\n

She said that the Assembly election in the five states was the \u201csemi-final\u201d for the \u201cfinal\u201d Lok Sabha polls and the BJP was nowhere. She said people were the \u201cman of the match\u201d in a democracy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the real democratic indication of 2019 final match,\u201d she tweeted.<\/p>\n

People voted against the BJP. This is the people\u2019s verdict and victory of the people in this country. Victory of democracy and victory against injustice, atrocities, destruction of institutions, misuse of agencies, no work for poor people, farmers, youths, Dalits, SC, ST, OBC, minorities and general caste, she said in a series of tweets.<\/p>\n

In Delhi, where Mamata Banerjee is currently meeting leaders of the Opposition parties, she said that the regional parties should fight the BJP in the states where they were strong.<\/p>\n

BJP has suffered setback in the Assembly election results of Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Telengana, TRS is all set to form the government for the second time, while the MNF has soared past the ruling Congress in Mizoram.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
