Ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in its attempt to create a stronger Dalit connect, will cook over 3,000 kg of khichdi with rice and lentils today at its rally in Delhi.<\/p>\n
The khichdi<\/em> (an easily cooked, popular dish prepared with rice and lentils) will be cooked with ingredients collected from nearly three lakh Dalit homes in Delhi.<\/p>\n \u201cSamrasta Khichdi\u201d will be cooked at the Bhim Mahasangam rally in Ramleela Maidan with ingredients collected by members of the Delhi BJP\u2019s SC Morcha. The rally will be addressed by the BJP\u2019s national president Amit Shah.<\/p>\n Through the khichdi<\/em> cooking, the BJP is also looking at creating a new world record. Nagpur based chef Vishnu Manohar and his team have been invited to cook the \u201cSamrasta Khichdi\u201d at the rally. A specially designed pot \u2013 20 ft in diameter and six feet in depth \u2013 will be used by the chef and his team to cook the khichdi<\/em> with rice, pulses, salt, water and oil.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are in touch with Guinness Book for recording the feat,\u201d Delhi BJP SC Morcha president Mohanlal Gihara has said.<\/p>\n The current world record for the largest khichdi<\/em> cooked is 918.8 kg, cooked by celebrity chef Sanjeev Kapoor and the Ministry of Food Processing Industries at the World Food Festival in Delhi in November 2017.<\/p>\n The rally today is expected to be attended by 50,000 people.
