The Opposition \u2013 led by the Left Front \u2013 has demanded the resignation of Monoj Kanti Deb stating that he has violated the dignity of a woman by \u2018touching\u2019 her in an \u2018indecent manner\u2019. The incident took place during a rally in Agartala on Saturday.<\/p>\n
Stating that the minister has \u2018harmed\u2019 the modesty of the colleague, Left Front convenor Biplab Dhar has demanded that Monoj Kanti Deb be \u2018sacked\u2019 for his indiscretions. Other local parties are also demanding his resignation.<\/p>\n
BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee has however dismissed the allegations as an attempt by the opposition to rake up \u2018non-issues\u2019. Calling it a \u2018character-assassination\u2019 of the BJP minister, the BJP spokesperson has indicated that the \u2018woman minister has never made any statement\u2019 to be reason enough for not bringing the minister to book.
