The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Amit Shah has stated that \u201cover 250\u2019 terrorists\u201d were killed in the Balakot air strike carried out by the Indian Air Force (IAF) last week in Pakistan.<\/p>\n
Speaking at an election rally on Sunday in Ahmedabad, the BJP president stated that \u201cunder Modi\u2019s leadership\u201d, the air strikes took place on the \u201c13th day\u201d after the Pulwama terror strike that had killed more than 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel on February 14.<\/p>\n
With the BJP president stating this figure, he becomes the first leader of the ruling party to do so, though the government has not offered any official figure.<\/p>\n
Although the BJP has not admitted to politicising the air strikes against the terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed which had claimed responsibility for the Pulwama attack, Amit Shah spoke at the gathering stating that it was \u201cNarendra Modi\u2019s will power\u201d which had made enemies change their stance \u2013 they no \u00a0longer \u201cbeheaded\u201d or \u201cinsulted\u201d Indian soldiers but returned them \u201cwithin 24 hours\u201d, referring to Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman who was returned by the Pakistan within two days after his MiG-21 was shot down in the neighbouring country.<\/p>\n
Attacking Opposition leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Mamata Banerjee and Akhilesh Yadav for seeking \u201cdetails\u201d of the air strike, Amit Shah added that these queries had \u201cbrought a smile to Pakistan\u2019s face\u201d.<\/p>\n
The BJP president also stated that they Opposition leaders \u201cshould keep quiet\u201d even if \u201cthey cannot support the armed forces\u201d.
