The Trinamool Congress has introduced a new, \u201csmarter\u201d, logo ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.<\/p>\n

The focus, it appears, is to highlight the twin-flower symbol of the party in the background of the signature blue and white combination that is a favourite of the party chief Mamata Banerjee. There is also the tricolour of the Indian national flag, that was present even in the earlier logo.<\/p>\n

The Trinamool Congress\u2019 symbol of the twin flowers \u2013 used on its hoardings, banners and its various social media platforms \u2013 has for many years been with the background of the tricolour. Occasionally \u2013 but mostly not in the party\u2019s official documents or social media pages \u2013 the symbol has also been also used with the three petals of each flower in the three different colours of the national flag.<\/p>\n

Trinamool Congress, a national political party, was formed on January 1, 1998. Mamata Banerjee formed it after breaking away from the Congress after being a member for over 26 years. The Trinamool Congress was given the symbol of two flowers \u2013 the jora ghash phul <\/em>\u2013 to symbolise grassroots politics and people.\u00a0It was registered in December 1999 and got recognised by the Election Commission as a national political party in 2016.<\/p>\n

According to a Trinamool Congress insider, the change was for the logo to look smarter, and because “people will take notice” and “it can be a talking point”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
