The families of two slain soldiers from Uttar Pradesh \u2013 who died in the Pulwama terror attack which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans \u2013 have asked for \u201cdecisive proof\u201d of the death of terrorists in Pakistan\u2019s Balakot as a result of the air strikes conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF), it was reported by NDTV<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The families of the slain jawans \u2013 Pradeep Kumar from Shamli and Ram Vakeel from Mainpuri \u2013 have called for proof. The demand to go on record on the impact of the air strikes in Balakot has been already raised by the Opposition parties.<\/p>\n

Ram Raksha, sister of Ram Vakeel stated to the media that \u201cthere should be clear proof\u201d. She further added that in Pulwama, the sight of \u201csomeone\u2019s hands, someone\u2019s limbs\u201d was there for all to see.<\/p>\n

Pointing out that Pakistan has claimed that there was \u201cno damage\u201d incurred by them, Ram Raksha questioned how it was possible to \u201caccept\u201d where the air strikes took place until there is \u201cproof\u201d. Unless the sight of proof emerges that her \u201cbrother\u2019s killing has been avenged\u201d, her family will not attain peace, she said, it was reported.<\/p>\n

Sulelata, 80-year old mother of Pradeep Kumar also stated that she was \u201cnot satisfied\u201d. Lamenting that \u201cso many sons died\u201d and yet there were \u201cno dead bodies on the other side\u201d, she said that there was \u201cno confirmed news\u201d.<\/p>\n

The government has not shared any official count of the number of casualties in the Balakot air strike and attacked the Opposition for seeking \u201cproof\u201d.<\/p>\n

Calling it a move to discredit the armed forces, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government at the Centre has refused to clear the air which is being viewed by the Opposition as an attempt to propagate vote-bank politics in the name of nationalism ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.<\/p>\n

The BJP president Amit Shah was heard speaking at a political rally in Ahmedabad after the Balakot air strike where he pinned the number of casualties at \u201cover 250\u201d.<\/p>\n

He attributed the perceived victory at Balakot to PM Narendra Modi\u2019s leadership and the presence of the BJP government at the Centre as opposed to a Congress-led UPA government.<\/p>\n

The official version as shared by the foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale on February 26 noted that \u201cvery large number of Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists\u201d had been killed in a \u201cnon-military, pre-emptive strike\u2019. The Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa has maintained that the IAF \u201ccannot count how many people died\u201d at Balakot.
