{"id":5265,"date":"2019-04-20T17:56:36","date_gmt":"2019-04-20T12:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.22.110.190\/english\/?p=5265"},"modified":"2021-01-05T03:12:33","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T21:42:33","slug":"election-commission-asks-eros-now-to-stop-web-series-on-pm-modi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/election-commission-asks-eros-now-to-stop-web-series-on-pm-modi\/","title":{"rendered":"Election Commission asks Eros Now to stop web series on PM Modi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Election Commission on Saturday asked the media platform Eros Now to stop the screening of a web series on Prime Minister Narendra Modi. <em>Modi \u2013 Journey of a Common Man<\/em> cannot be telecast, according to the EC, based on its April 10 order that prevented any biopic, biography or hagiography which serves the interest of any political entity when the model code of conduct is in vogue.<\/p>\n<p>The EC had prevented the release of the film, <em>PM Narendra Modi,<\/em>\u00a0on April 10 stating that it \u201cdisturbs the level-playing field\u201d. The EC had said that any such \u201cbiopic material in the nature of biography\/hagiography sub-serving\u00a0the purposes of any political entity or individual connected to it, which is intended to, or which has the potential to disturb the level playing field during the elections, should not be displayed in the electronic media including cinematograph during the operation of MCC.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eros Now has been asked to immediately remove all content connected to the web series.<\/p>\n<p>Lok Sabha elections are being held in the country in seven phases. The first two phases \u2013 April 11 and 18 are over and five more phases \u2013 on April 23, 29, May 6, 12 and 19 are left.
