{"id":5301,"date":"2019-04-25T11:27:51","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T05:57:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/34.22.110.190\/english\/?p=5301"},"modified":"2021-01-05T03:12:33","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T21:42:33","slug":"ec-wants-modi-biopic-ban-supreme-court-to-take-final-call","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thebengalstory.com\/english\/ec-wants-modi-biopic-ban-supreme-court-to-take-final-call\/","title":{"rendered":"EC wants Modi biopic ban, Supreme Court to take final call"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"m_7647705198013854832elided-text\" dir=\"auto\">The Election Commission of India has submitted its report on the biopic, PM Narendra Modi, in a sealed cover before the Supreme Court on Monday,\u00a0which will soon take a final call on the film&#8217;s release.<\/div>\n<div class=\"m_7647705198013854832elided-text\" dir=\"auto\">The poll panel has imposed a ban on the release of the film prior to the completion\u00a0of the voting procedure till May 19.<\/div>\n<div class=\"m_7647705198013854832elided-text\" dir=\"auto\">According to the sources quoted in various reports, a poll\u00a0panel official who had watched the film was of the opinion that the\u00a0film could influence voters in favour of a particular political\u00a0party and therefore should not be released before polling comes to\u00a0an end.<\/div>\n<div class=\"m_7647705198013854832elided-text\" dir=\"auto\">The biopic is &#8220;unidimensional&#8221; and portrays Narendra Modi as an uncompromising, strong-willed\u00a0leader, the reports were quoted saying.<br \/>\nThe apex court has asked the poll panel\u00a0to give a copy of the report to the producer of the film, who had\u00a0moved court against the EC&#8217;s ban on the release of the film<br \/>\nbefore May 19.
